This is Savana Wehunt, Ghoul Coordinator for Night of the Living Dead 2012... If you guys have any questions about the ghouls for the film, shoot em at me!
WIll there be celebrity zombies? Like how they did in Dawn of the Dead remake when they killed rosie, Jay Leno ect... If so there has to be a undying Chuck Norris Zombie.
nightcreaturesfx, I'm currently in per-production of my first feature film myself, what would you say in the biggest hurtle for you in terms of directing? Also, what advise would you give for being said first time feature film director?
nice. Ever heard of director Bruno Mattei (Spelling may be off) He directed many foreign zombie films such as Zombi & A Huge favorite of mine called "Hell of the living dead" aka "Night of the zombies" and if you know of him did you learn anything from him as in directing styles?
If I do recall those zombies were look-a-likes. Not the actual celebrities. We will have some look-a-likes though for this film. Stay tuned! Chuck Norris would be an AWESOME idea though!
H. Morris...never, ever give up! Work hard and stay focused. Find people with the same drive as you and a great team. Take your time and do it right. If you don't have passion, you have nothing. Also, stay away from film schools. Keep doing short films until you find your own style
Thank you nightcreaturesfx, I've a great crew in place! They are awesome and the cast is coming together well as well. It's difficult on zero budget, but I have the drive to do it and it will be done. Shooting the trailer first in two weeks, Thanks for your time. Can't wait to see NOTLD 2012!
As far as the film..it will be unique..as in it's not a straight remake. I didn't want to do a carbon copy. The beginning moments of the original doesn't happen until around the hour mark in our film
Mitch, my team from Night Creatures FX, Troy Smith, and Original Sin FX will be handling lots of the gory details...but...i also have some secret big guns that's coming in...they will be announced soon
I Love that question, Nate. The best way I can answer it, is...they will be just as quick as the y were in the original. People seem to forget that the Ghouls were quick when they wanted to be in NOTLD 68...But, no...they will not be marathon runners, ala Dawn of The Dead Remake/28 Days/Weeks later
What scares me??? oh god....i shouldn't say this... 2 things... Love...and..Aliens...not like, Ripley/Predator Aliens...but the little gray/Green fuckers with the big heads and large black eyes....eeewwwww...(shivers)
I'm Here Matt. Nate, what is different with these zombies is that their instincts are more heightened now that they are the undead. I hate sprinter zombies because in real life the body after death wouldn't move with those movements. I am basing their movements off of similar movements that I learned from The Walking Dead. A zombie is similar to an animal in that it uses the senses to hunt and smell out their food. As food is more near they may pick up the pace and run in packs but not to a run or a sprint, they may use tools around them such as rocks (like in the original NOTLD) etc... Another concept I would like to implement with this production is that zombies never tire. A human after awhile of running would get tired but not the ghouls in the film, Same with trying to get into a building. Hope this gives you a little more insight on our Ghouls.
For this film I am thinking they all have the same mentality unless they are feeding, nobody likes to share their brains. Sharing is not caring in zombie world!
@Christy, we will be calling for extras roughly around Late June/July. They can contact my assistant/V2 Pictures Secretary, Katie at V2Pictures@yahoo.com.
@Nate, we are going for a very creepy score...ala John Carpenter

ReplyDeleteThat's excellent. I've always appreciated Graves as an artist and I'm glad to see him get work wherever it is.

ReplyDeleteI Love that question, Nate. The best way I can answer it, is...they will be just as quick as the y were in the original. ReplyDeletewill some be more animalistic in nature than others, or will they all have a similar mentality
DeleteNicely said Savana! =) I cannot wait to get made up and do this with you guys!
Delete*Family Feud clapping* "Good answer!" : D <3 haha
DeleteFor this film I am thinking they all have the same mentality unless they are feeding, nobody likes to share their brains. Sharing is not caring in zombie world!
Deleteall the same...we explore that there is something linking the Ghouls brains together...hence why you have to destroy the brain to stop them
DeleteAre you planning to having any type of making of or outtakes included in the dvd
ReplyDelete@Christy, we are shooting on DSLR, the same they shot the movie Chrome Skull:Laid to Rest part 2 on, and certain scenes of Iron Man 2.
ReplyDelete@Nate, yes...there will be about a 3 hour bonus dvd with the films release tentavely titled "Documenting the Dead"...a BTS look at everything.
YESSS DSLR! (having a nerdy moment) that's wonderful news.
DeleteI'm super excited for all of you!
ReplyDeletethank you, Tony
DeleteThanks Tony! Hope to see you in May!
DeleteHello Tony..
DeleteI was asked to come back to the show, so here's hoping...
DeleteThank you Tony! we're also quite excited! =)
ReplyDeleteGoing to be awesome...
ReplyDeleteOf course! My theater history professor in high school was a zombie in the original, and I have always carried a torch for the genre. HUGE fan.
ReplyDeleteAny more Questions out there?
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of people interested in playing extras. When will you be taking submission for that and how should they get in touch with you?
ReplyDeletewill NOTLD 2012 have more of a classic score or will there be a somewhat lack of ambient music letting the performance set mood
ReplyDelete@Christy, we will be calling for extras roughly around Late June/July. They can contact my assistant/V2 Pictures Secretary, Katie at V2Pictures@yahoo.com.
ReplyDelete@Nate, we are going for a very creepy score...ala John Carpenter
